One best book is equal to a hundred good friends but a one good friend is equal to a library. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
This day, World's Book Day ( 23 April ), let us start reading and travel through the minds of creators. This year's (2020) theme for the books day is " to share a million stories ". In regard to those lines, I wanna share my experience with my most beloved novel, " Ponniyin Selvan " (The son of Ponni ) . It may seems like watching paint dry, because in this technological world reading a novel that too of historical genre is kinda boring to many. But you may change your mind in front of this art of Kalki Krishnamurthy ( Author of Ponniyin Selvan ).

I took this novel when I was 14 and I really lost myself among the characters and the excellent plot. The time period of this story is around 1000 years back, about a king " Raja Raja Chola I " aka Arulmozhi varman , in the era of temples , in the era of grandiose. As you travel chapter by chapter, you will find yourself gradually falling for those characters. It is a combination of all the flavors - thriller, romance ,suspense ,spy fiction. The amazing artistic product can even take you back to the golden past.
It explains the bravery and wit of a king, the loyalty of a friend, the true and deep love of a woman, the attitude of a spy and a lot more.
The narration - only Kalki can do it.
The underlying current of patriotism and loyalty, teaching morality and chivalry etc..,
Making tamils proud of their ancestors and ancestry.
If you're a bibliophile, you shouldn't miss this legendary treat !
