Updated: May 21, 2020

When we people searching out in our past times like what are browser Cookies, and actually what is the purpose?

I will explain u with an example in a real scenario:

Consider this as an example, you went to a store for buying clothes or whatever products you want; and you really enjoyed the shopping. Then while cashing, the clerk requested your phone number for knowing their big sale updates, and you decided to give him your number. Then the clerk goes and save your details like name as customer name and number as customer number into company’s database.

In the end, Your initial visit will only add your information to them, to narrow it down a bit, let say you often uses their shop or company to buy your weekly groceries from them. Essentials are for example milk, bread and eggs etc. After visiting more frequently, they’ll get to know which items you mostly buy. And, You be a regular customer to get offers a hot package gifts or they will offer the products with lower price .

NOW COMPUTER WISE, WHAT ARE COOKIES?

When we people used to browse Internet Sites, which uses HTTP means a browser sends request to the server and gets back the file.

There is a question arises in our mind like “HOW CAN THIS SERVER DISTINGUISH BETWEEN REQUEST FROM MEMBER AND ANYONE ELSE? This is solved by what you can a “COOKIE”.

A Cookie is a small file, that a browser store on user’s computer, allowing companies to track user’s activities . And, its not a cookie can supply additional information such as confidential information such as confidential information that might be leaked all over the Internet transferring victim’s life into HELL.Cookies are messages that web servers passes to your web browsers when you visit Internet Sites. Your browser stores each messages what you have searched. Your browser stores each message in a small file, called cookie.txt. When you request another Internet site from the server , your browser sends the same cookie back to the server. These file typically contains Information about your visit to the webpage, as well as any information you’ve volunteered to search based on your interest. Cookies are most commonly used to track website activity of yours. When you visit some sites the server gives you cookie that acts as your Identification card. Upon each return visit to that site, your browser passes that cookie back to the server. In this way, web server will always gather information about which web pages are used the most and which web pages are gathering the most repeat hits. Cookies are also used for online shopping. Online stores often uses cookies that record any personal information you enter, as well as any items in your electronic shopping cart, so that you don’t need to reenter any of the information each time you visit the website. Servers can use Cookies to provide personalized web pages.

When you select preferences at a site that uses this Option, the server uses the information in the cookie to create a customized pages for you. And some of the security concerns are only the website that creates a cookie can read it, so other server do not have access to your information. Also, web Servers can use only the information that you provide or choices that you make while visiting the website as content in cookies. In some cases, cookies not come from the site you’re visiting, but from advertising companies that manage the banner ads for a set of sites. Those Web browsers store these cookies in a cookie directory on the user’s hard disk, unless of course the user has disabled cookies.

I hope you find this a useful answer to those who are searching for this question.
