The world ahead

I have already heard of the metaverse. I have discussed it with my friend and today again the term came from somewhere as Facebook news about bitcoin. My goats: Max and Bitcoin. (We’re unsure which goat is which.)

So the thoughts of me as follows:

Now what? Facebook gonna make a ticket for the multiverse and ask people to buy it ? Will there be face coins or like required to buy and experience things in that virtual world?

I know this virtual world will make some PUBG and Fortnite gamers go mad. They would love it! They will think it's so cool and think of me as another amateur who is not in trend with the world and the one who always thinks the dark side instead of it doing good. Really? Okay. So let me tell the dark sides and post the comments opposing every one of them.

You may think this virtual world will help you connect with all your virtual friends. You can meet them, love them, play combat with them, shopping, vacations (yes with a flip you can go anywhere in the world and maybe there will be a face coin with taxes included) and whatnot? But you should know it will come at a price... First, it'll all be free and at minimal cost but slowly we will reach a point like now we are with Facebook and Instagram. We can't shake it off our life. They'll become a monopoly. We can't escape them.

Okay, let's just take we don't like that and like to stay in the real world. But with the whole world turning into a virtual world like the social media's presently it's hard to be out of it when you have all the schools and work-related things happening there.

Think of advertisement. God! If we build our homes in the virtual world the Advisement will be shown directly all over our homes just like they spam our emails and show ads in all the videos and web pages... All the billboards and everything! And if you don't want the ads to be displayed please buy their premium membership. Making profits is fine but this is of another level. Intruding our homes and having us under surveillance knowing all our interests and getting into our minds isn't that creepy?

Okay, the food and things we should come to the real world right. What if they take us there permanently like simulation? Where we can stay young and feel eternity? Many of us will become excited to be that way. But think of it, is it okay? They may hire robots that can add pills to our mouth on time and we can forever stay in simulation. Or they just transfer the data of our brain, in the end, we are just memories and data, right?

If you have watched Intime movie you know the level 1 and things where people live. They use their time to buy things in life. While the richer who have billions of time live in the highest level and others you know. It may happen the same the rich people will always have the upper land and they being so kind can't only let us live they make our dying hard too. They want us to be there as their game. If you say that I'm concluding all this with some sci-fi movie then you're right and wrong at the same time. We know the threats they tell about society is right. AI is right.. Space is right... Why not this be too right? And I'm not telling you all the things will happen exactly as they show in movies. But the concepts of unpredictable things all mostly start from a sci-fi novel. The process and end may be different. Good or bad. But what I am now telling can become a threat to humanity.

Children nowadays can't eat without their phones. They are internet kids. They don't know the world without gadgets. It's hard for them to live like that as you can see. We adults struggle what will they do? We can a little bit try to go back but them sorry! What will happen? As one of my brothers said they are crazy about buying clothes for their virtual heroes what can we expect from them if something like the virtual world happens?

We can't compete or wage a war on a trillion-dollar company. They are powerful and do you know what's the pity here? We make them more powerful by making them control our lives! This social media is sickening many people's life. Constant comparing and things lead more people to depression. This is fake. They fail to manage the hate speech in social media. They just care about the reach. Cyberbullying and hate are everywhere. Look into what happened in Myanmar there was a mass genocide that had its root from a Facebook post. And Facebook not having enough tech support and language barrier led to this. A humanitarian even caught a flight and headed to the headquarters to notify about the outrage to the uncontrollable social media. But nothing changed. Thousands of people died and one has gone as a refuge to other countries.

As I read before Facebook Mark has designed Facemash an app that rated female students attractiveness while he was a student at Harvard. It was shut down but Facebook was born after that. If you have seen the social network movie or have read the book "An ugly truth -Inside Facebook's battle for nomination" you already know this. The start of Facebook itself is not good says the author.

In 2016 Facebook-Cambridge Analytica data scandal was a hot topic. Now again in 2021, two whistleblowers have admitted that it does more harm by leaking documents and. Will it again vanish as happened in 2016?

There is a concept called Longtermism where they support the idea of lives of certain people is more than the life of others as they will lead humanity to a better place with the technology and opportunities they have than others and they also argue that the simulation and things will be a boon to humanity. For them "a giant massacre for man, a small misstep for mankind."

I don't know where humanity is going to be in a few years. These horrible things may happen for our future generations or it can just start in a decade or so. What matters is the knowledge of what's happening around us. I don't want to be pessimistic about these all and want you to have an overthinking day. I am just urging all to have at least a basic view of this. Please search for metaverse and Longtermism concept that is prevailing. Take a stand for yourself. My words don't matter. Weigh out the opinions yourself. Spread the knowledge.

Whatever happens, I don't want our future generation people studying about us in their history saying that these people have felt the nature and things which they can't. I don't want a future history where people struggle for their freedom again in their virtual world.

P.S. I'm not against technology I appreciate the advent of the internet, telegram, duckduckgo and many other things. I'm just against the idea of making profits through technology at the stake of peoples life and freedom.
