Do more by doing less

If one zooms in one's daily habitual actions, it will be obvious that much of the tasks that inhabits our routine are of taking one's time. Only a handful of actions is of high yielding. This fact can be made clear through the Pareto principle. It states that " for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes". It's the best time and life management principle. All the task we are doing relies on this interesting pattern. For instance, only 20% of our friends, occupy 80%of our heart.

The cupboard may be filled with loads of dresses, but we wore only 20% of dresses for the 80% of the time.

20% pages of the book contains 80% of chief concepts.

20% of memories bring 80% of happiness.

To put another way, the majority of the results come from the minority of the actions. The remaining 80% of actions are merely burning one's daylight.

By applying Pareto's principle, one can knock down productive result.

But how to identify the 20% productive actions?

Think of the goal you need to achieve, then write down all the actions you are performing to reach that goal. Next, pick out the top few actions that take you closer to the goal. Neglect the remaining actions or give them less priority. This thorough scrutiny of actions, results in investing all your energy on the most productive tasks rather keeping you busy with the minor contributions and never getting anything done.
