An average person in the world today spend around 3 hours per day on thier smartphones .It has made us more anxious ,stressed .One of the reasons of that could be mindless scrolling the social media. It has made us less productive ,lazy and less focused towards the task at hand . Dopamine is a chemical secreted by our body whenever it feels good basically it is a feel good hormone triggered by new rewards and social media in this age increases the frequency of dopamine release from our body .This is the same hormone which makes you feel good when you are craving for an ice cream and you get it but when you eat the icecream your focus shifts towards another stimulus and then this ice cream doesn't seem that good to you. Social media has increased the frequency of dopamine release from our body and dopamine fasting which is in trend for a few years in silicon valley as well is the idea that you can reset your mind by practising dopamine fasting .It could be done by various means like going outside and finding your hobbies ,taking your dog out for walk ,going for morning walks ,participating in marathons and outdoor sports activities ,removing stimulus which causes the dopamine release example disable your notification ,avoid emotional eating and shopping .It could be easily done like no phone for 1-2 hours in a week. Journalling is also a better way to track your internet usage on how much it is affecting your life ,if it's getting on a downward trajectory you should definitely opt for the dopamine fasting .Many people around the globe has practiced this fasting and have got good results like increase in their productivity ,great sleeping pattern, less stress and anxiety and they found their happiness to be more long lasting.
