Being a single mother is one of the most challenging job we could ever hear of. Isn't it? But they say exceptions exist everywhere.

E.g : For Maya, been a single mother of teenager twins was a cherry pie until one day, when she found out that her daughter Meera has eloped. Where? Why? And with whom? She was as clueless as you are.
Days, weeks and months passed by but Maya and Mihir couldn't find Meera even when they did everything possible.
Mihir, Maya's son was the mama's boy. Being the only male in the family, he was more protective, understood his responsibilities and had always been there for his family. He knew his mother was going through one dark phase, so he tried to do his part. It was 6:00 am and he cooked her some nice breakfast. Zucchini noodles with vinegar and soy sauce, green tea with mint and honey, some pieces of brownies and lukewarm water in Maya's favourite glass jug. He was smiling ears to ears as he thought his efforts will comfort his mother a lot. He picked up the tray and marched towards her room. Accidentally, the jug fell and was broken. Hearing the booming sound, Maya rushed out of her room, saw the jug and uttered her first sentence after months. She said "I've made a mistake. I shouldn't have done that.". Mihir came forward to apologise but his feet got hurt by a tiny broken glass making him bend forward to see the hurt area. A sachet of white powder fell from the pocket of his shirt. As soon as Maya saw it, she recalled that some guys in Mihir's school were caught smuggling heroin. Maya didn't even take a moment contemplating twice about what she just thought and threw Mihir out of the house after making him swear that he'd never show his face to her ever again.
She was devastated. She went to Meera's room. Sat there and cried for hours looking at the drawings the twins made on birthdays, mother's day and other occasions. Every drawing depicted truth, a crazily happy family. Maya approached the bookshelf of her kids, caressed it with a heavy heart filled with sorrow and regrets. She had already lost Meera and just a few moments ago, she made herself lose Mihir too. She was all tears. As she took the support of the bookshelf to stand still, a book fell on the ground which had a brochure of a renowned organization and a letter signed by Meera.
Maya's heart sank. She knew that Meera meant every word she wrote. Maya was relieved for Meera but she was even more tensed now. Tensed for Mihir. Maybe it was a miracle or maybe, merely a normal act that she walked out of the room in search of Mihir and she actually found him there. The floor was clean, the dinner was ready. Moreover, there was a new sparkling glass jug on the table. Maya could only see Mihir's back as he said "Maa have some food, then I'll give you crocin to ease the headache. Come as soon as you freshen up." When Mihir turned towards Maya, she actually broke into laughter as she saw Mihir carrying his old spiderman mask. She said "you're 18 now but the mask still suits you. Great.".
And he said "you're my mother but knowing the difference between baking soda and heroin is not your cup of tea... not so great.!"
Then they had a good laugh..✨🌼
Alright....we all know some promises are not meant to be kept. Afterall that's how Maya realised that adopting the twins was the best decision of her life. She has raised her kids right.
Was it a happily ever after?
