As everyone watches a movie or reads a book or meet life’s wrath each one of us interrupts the situation from a new angle. So let me share what are my thoughts about these movies.
It’s been long since I’ve watched new movies and that too with my family. The lockdown sure has some perks! 😊
Let me start with the movie called Soorarai Pottru which can be translated as praise of the brave starring Suriya and Aparna Balamurali.
I should tell it is a great comeback for Suriya in such a strong brave role. It was directed by Sudha Kongara who worked as associate director for seven years with Mani Ratnam. Her debut film Iruthi Suttru was a blockbuster. Her way of direction is very impressive. The IMDb of Soorarai Pottru is 9.1 out of 10 *wow*
The movie is inspired by the book called 'Simply Fly'. It was a biopic of Captain G.R. Gopinath's life.
Let me jump into the film’s plot. The film starts with the landing of the plane in an unauthorized place due to a protocol breach by authorities. As they have no more option, Suriya orders the plane to land there. When the flashback starts, Sundari (Aparna Balamurali) and her family are seen as traveling on a train to see the groom Nedumaaran (Suriya), a formal air force captain. After they meet, the two came to know each other’s interests.
Nedumaaran is keen on starting an aviation company which he assumes will be of great help in bringing the dream of millions of poor and middle-class families to fly at low cost as cheaply as one rupee. Aparna is in love with the art of baking and plans to set up her business soon. Though Maara proposes, she brings down his offer, saying that they should first achieve their dreams and talk about marriage and all. The two are seen as 1 in 100 crazy couples whom others have no clue.
Maara faces so many conflicts while trying to bring his dream into reality. As the son of a teacher, he has no money, but the idea. He tries to join hands with a famous airline, which ends up in vain. He seeks the help of another business venture which cheats him joining hands with the famous airline.
The story also tells about why he wishes to see poor people fly at a low cost. That flashback I believe will be the saddest scene ever. There is a financial burden for the aviation business that requires a lot of funds. There are dirty politics that have money and power and don’t like anyone other than them has it, especially poor people.
Maara is later married to Sundari and Sundari takes care of business and runs their family. There is family pressure that can’t bear the debts caused by failed investment.
The whole movie revolves around how he succeeds in his flight and fight! A must watch film!
The film conveys how to hold onto the dream whatever hurdles may come across your way. And though money is not the only thing important in life it is one of the important things without doubt so be sure to save it and make use of it.
Now comes Mookuthi Amman!
I was biased by looking at the title, but it’s a social awareness and a comedy film. I was also doubtful of the film revolving around Nayantara but I was mistaken again.
The movie tells the actual happening in the middle-class family having a single mom whose runaway husband is still to be missing for 11 years. The family also has a son, three daughters, and a grandfather. Engels Ramasamy (RJ Balaji being the elder son of the family takes care of all the financial burden by working as a news anchor in an uncelebrated channel.
He is rejected by over 12 brides for his family background. One day, they all went to their family temple, he wishes to make everything right for his family to be happy since they are his world.
Suddenly the deity appears before him as Mookuthi Amman (Nayanthara). Surprised by the view he doubts the god and then it all cleared by God as she grants his wish, but soon vanished as his doubts become clear. Angered by this he asks what he wants to do get back his dream life.
The story continues as the god asks him to do some chores to make her temple famous. After some time one guy named Bhagavathi Baba (Ajay Ghosh) visits their village and tells his plan to turn those 11,000 acres for his Project Panchavana Project,
How they protect the land from the fraudulent becomes the goal of the duo, Ramasamy and Mookuthi Amman.
The comedy scenes bring the limelight to the political atrocities, and the ignorance of the people going under the spell of the so-called God sent people.
It also shows the difficulties of a family and the distinction between needs and wants in our life.
Overall a stress buster without failing to ask questions about concerning things!
Kudos to the team!
The key message in Mookuthi amman is don't be fooled by those who plays with people with the role of god sent beings discriminating other religions.
Watch them if you have not watched them yet and share your thoughts in the comment! I would love to hear what you guys learned from these movies!
Bye! Bye!
