The Age of Perspicacity

Languishing amidst the pandemic and being utterly oblivious to the premonition of the world, we need to have certain weapons at our disposal to tackle the unforeseen and uninvited catastrophes that await us. The most important weapon in our repository to navigate through the uncertain times is our level of perspicacity. Even if you look at the current state of affairs where the entire human race has been brutally bludgeoned by the pandemic, the fundamental element that we lack is our ability to view the world from the angle of sanity. In these entire episodes of multilateral agony, the most disheartened and nonplussed section on the entire human network happens to be the community of college students.

Being a college student, who is unprecedentedly addlepated regarding future prospects, I would like to shed some light on the perplexity of the youth. We have been sitting at home for about four months. I pertinaciously believe that most of the students might have been thinking about embarking on a new journey, especially, the students of the final semester. Suddenly, the outbreak happened and everything became stagnant. Now it has become an arduous task to witness even a shred of sanguinity around us. Perhaps, the event would be fleeting but the repercussions and the ensuing impact of the current circumstances are going to be indelible. But there are numerous invaluable lessons that one can learn from this bloodthirsty mayhem, brought to us exclusively by the Coronavirus. The COVID crisis aims at teaching some unforgettable lessons to the innocuous youth of the nation. First, the crisis endorses the idea that we should be properly prepared to endure any unfavorable exigency that can question our existence. Second, it gauges our ability to fish in troubled waters by setting up a dynamic framework and thereby dissipating the destructive spillovers of the outbreak. Third, it acts as a system of checks and balances to measure the extent of cooperation that the entire humankind can manifest in order to win this ferocious battle against an almost invisible creature. These lessons, if studied comprehensively can open up the gateways to wisdom for the youth of the nation. The students have a long way to go and in this uncharted territory fraught with uncertainties, many more unforeseeable calamities await us and these indispensable lessons could serve as a doctrine of survival for the entire humankind.

In order to decipher the codes of wisdom offered to us by the insidious pandemic, we first need to hone our level of perspicacity, which is not only confined to our prowess and dexterity but encapsulates the other humanly characters. One of the most sensible characters we need to nourish is our trait of kindness and compassion. Throughout the entire crisis, specifically, while witnessing the tormenting process of reverse migration, one element which was visible and invisible at the same time was compassion. It was effectively evident when succor was offered to the migrants by the locals and it was sincerely absent when the policies were being framed by the policymakers as they considered them sub-human, implicitly. In my view, there’s a desperate and urgent need to develop a clan of sensible and insightful youth who can conceive the possibilities and uncertainties regarding the future of humankind, principally, in the middle of a crisis.

It is very important to inculcate the absolute truth that the world is looking for a new normal now. The new normal is about to bring remarkable possibilities with it provided the requisite interventions are made by the authorities. Without an optimistic nudging by the government, primarily, the ministry of Human Resource and Development, it’s going to be a pipedream. The need of the hour is to establish an efficacious educational apparatus and skill-based infrastructure, which can impactfully equip the youth with salient skills and characters to bear any eventuality. The upcoming crises could be more menacing than this one, and consequently, a strong, healthy, and perspicacious social infrastructure is paramount with a view to combating any serious and inimical development.
