THIGH-HIGH BOOTS

I often go out of my way, get drowned in the temptation of shiny pieces of material which do nothing but depreciate over the years, and end up buying thigh-high boots that are on this unbelievable discount on a hot summer afternoon, and then I pat myself on the back and think about how it is my very great purchase.

I think all of us at some point of time in our lives have thought about how we ended up spending “50% less” on some garment, accessories, footwear, apparel or anything of that sort and thought we canned the best deal possible out there but little do we realize how we were just the next victim of a cheapened item on the shelf. Probably buying thigh-high boots was the most imbecile act on my part and yet I convinced myself thoroughly that I played it smart. None of us want to ever agree to the fact that it was no way even close to great and more like the worst purchase of our lives but rather the next time I am faced with these similar situations, I would not hesitate to go buy another thigh-high boots though the old ones are already collecting dust and make it my next great purchase.

This led me to thinking about all the times I failed miserably to have the same mindset, the same confidence, the same energy, the same enthusiasm, and the least self-doubt and the least uncertainty with regards to the majority of the other aspect in my life. It may be losing some excess weight, it may be failing an exam, it may be failing to quite a bad habit or it may even be as simple as failing to wake up early the next morning. Why is it that I have the least about of enthusiasm and highest uncertainty toward the most valuable and life-changing events in life. Why is it that I believe that this is not my great purchase.

We constantly tend to start off on the wrong foot whenever it comes to doing something that a part of our lives subconsciously rely on. Just because it doesn’t come with a hoarding that says “SALE” we do not have the same courage to invest in it.

The majority of the problem with us is that, according to our evolution of understanding, buying thigh-high boots on sale on a sunny afternoon is a great purchase rather than buying what will help us develop ourselves into making us realize what the definition of “Great Purchase” really stands for.
