Why should you write things that strike your mind hard?

I’m sure you’ve been notified that if you want to attain a target, you need to pin it down. I know it sounds a bit cliché, but it does work. It is all too simple to fail to remember the reason why you hold this thing with you in your hectic quotidian life. And do you have to write every single thing down every beat? What’s that supposed to be good for, anyway? I have transcribed this article for each one asking this question.

Here come the seven main benefits of writing things down and also the psychological reasons behind them.

1. If your memory is a leaking bucket like mine, once you develop the habit of writing things down, you will realize that writing is more evident than thoughts.

2. Some beautiful ideas don't stay in the brain for long. To capture them fast, else, they are gone in the wind. It also gives you a sense of achievement. It helps you think in a bigger picture.

3. Written goals are important. They help you find potentially important ones and make you more committed. It gives clarity, focus, and direction towards your goal. So writing your goals down proves to be a powerful reminder to remind you about what to focus on. It clarifies your goals, intentions, and priorities.

4. It also helps you unload your mental RAM and promotes clearer thinking. Sometimes we even form thought loops to keep important things in mind. And writing things down frees the mind from thought loops and saves your mental energy. It clears your mind for higher-level thinking and therefore promotes more focused action.

5. Helps you know yourself and your life better while using a journal in your life. It gives a record of your past and helps you spot the trouble you've been dealing with subconsciously. It helps you recognize and process your emotions better.

6. Keeps you motivated even when stressed while on the right path and encourages daily progress.

7. It helps you have your life under control than someone who tries to juggle everything in the head. It develops a deep sense of gratitude.

It is very important to stay grounded and be grateful for the things you have, as we overcome many obstacles to succeed in your field. Writing helps you connect with everything you deem important. As an antidote to "more is more" mentality, doing so will motivate you to keep going and be mindful of what you already have, instead of what you have yet to accomplish or attain. Now jumping over to the psychological theory part,

1. The brain has 2 layers: External storage and encoding. The external storage is writing things down or storing it as a memory loop and the encoding happens in the hippocampus for the analysis. And when you choose the former for external storage, you get more space in the brain for the encoding, else, the lesser.

2. The generation effect: First the brain generates the goal, and second, writing it down helps in essentially reprocessing or regenerating that image, i.e. you get a lot of cognitive processing on your goal written down. In essence, you get a double whammy that sears the goal into your brain.

Just try different ways and find the ones you feel most comfortable and effective with. And now, if you still think these are not worth your time trying, then, I challenge you today to write down an idea and see, your subconscious will reward you with 100 new ones.

It enables us to bring images from fantasy into reality and make them visible on paper. In this way, we can build much more compounded theories and plans than would be practicable only in thought. Writing things down is a smooth yet powerful way to be high-yielding and to deal with day-to-day overwhelm. Follow in the steps of today's industry giants and reap the benefits of having visible reminders, clear thought processes, emotional stability, and even a grateful heart simply by using an old-fashioned pen and paper. Writing is creative power. Let us use this skill for a greater and contented life.
