OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER

Neurobiological theories and records tell us that, it affects men, women, children, and adults on an equal basis. In the United States, about 1 in 40 adults and 1 in 100 children have OCD. According to the world wide Organisation(WHO), OCD is one of the top 20 illness-related disorder.OCD is caused by continuous obsession and compulsion and that take up at least one hour a day and cause distress in a day to day activity.

Obsessions are like persistent actions, i.e. The actions are performed in course of difficulty, uncontrollable thoughts, impulsive, unwanted and disturbing situations. Those anxiety and discomfort interfere with normal life significantly. People without OCD is able to filter the recurring thoughts about affected germs, for example, People with OCD can't appear in public and they obsessed with germs and can’t stop thinking about being contaminated.

And It’s not like biting your nails, it interferes normal life, affects the job, education, work. Thoughts and behavior are out of control. Obsession and unwanted thoughts that can’t be pushed away and compulsions like rituals which are repetitive behaviors. For an example: obsession can interfere with child’s concentration when its starts interfering with their ability to engage in their usual activities going out to play, engaging in family activities because they have to do their compulsive behavior and then the rituals probably bring them OCD, sometimes depression. And you’ll find people who are so worried about being avoiding the risk that they no longer able to participate in the positive things in life and always become quite bound among things because they aren’t really able to venture out into the world.

So, Scientist and therapist are moving forward in trying to figure out better therapies and learning more, about not only the disease but also very important areas of the brain that mediate many functions, these patients really present an enormous opportunity for science to grow!.
